Methodology

Every strong conclusion benefits from a clear record.

The site separates facts, estimates, inferences, stocks, flows, and commitment categories so readers can understand how the data fits together.

Shadow Capital

A taxonomy, not a subtotal

Track capacity reservations, firm inventory purchases, supplier prepayments, strategic inventory, facility guarantees, manufacturing investments, and customer-backed supplier expansion as separate fields.

Scale indicators

Make the denominator visible

Commitment intensity = ending disclosed manufacturing, supply, or purchase-commitment balance ÷ annual revenue × 100. It is a stock-to-flow screening ratio, not CapEx, cash paid, a valuation multiple, or a measure of capacity controlled.

Non-comparable buildout

Keep separate categories separate

Cloud CapEx, chip deployment, construction commitments, supplier agreements, and financing plans can clarify physical compute buildout. They are not assigned a commitment-intensity ratio unless the same disclosed inputs exist.

Ownership

Control is not binary

Owned assets, dedicated lines, anchor agreements, allocation rights, portability, and public support create different forms of control.

Publication checks

What each release confirms

  • A claim references an available source.
  • A claim includes normalized period metadata.
  • An external source includes a URL and date.
  • Active claim IDs stay unique.
  • Metrics include units, period, and source records.
  • Derived ratios align with canonical inputs.
  • Mixed chart units or currencies include conversion metadata.
  • Historical claims carry their context.

Update workflow

From filing to published record

  1. Capture the primary document in the source ledger.
  2. Add or retire the claim without overwriting its history.
  3. Normalize the reported definition, period, units, and category.
  4. Run schema, citation, calculation, route, metadata, and build checks.
  5. Record material corrections with original wording, corrected wording, reason, source, date, and affected pages.
