Leading-edge wafer production combines process technology, equipment, materials, yield learning, and a long chain of qualified suppliers. A design can be extraordinary and still wait if the necessary process, mask, packaging path, or allocation window is unavailable at the moment a product needs to ramp.
How control is built
Companies create resilience through a mix of owned capability, long-term manufacturing relationships, credible demand forecasts, and products that are portable where portability is possible. The point is not to turn every contract into ownership, but to understand which rights and incentives survive when capacity is scarce.
